Wedding Hair & Makeup Top Tips

So much planning is involved in creating your big day; for most brides, the wedding hair and makeup are very important. So, finding the perfect team to work for you is crucial. Are you having a separate hair stylist and makeup artist, or would you prefer someone who specialises in both, as I do? To help you work out what is best for your wedding day, here are the top tips I always give to people who enquire about my services.

1. Book your Bridal Hair and Makeup Early

Honestly, there is no such thing as too early; diaries fill up fast, especially for hair and makeup services, so even if you are a year away from your date, there is no harm in getting it reserved. You could find that your options are limited if you leave it too long, so at the bare minimum, book at least three months in advance.

2. Plan a Look But Keep an Open Mind

Many brides have been dreaming of their big day and have already decided how they want to look. That is great, and hair and makeup artists will do their best to come up with your perfect style, but you should also be guided by the experts. We know that some styles work better on thick hair and others on fine hair, and we can help you understand what a full day of posing, chatting and finally dancing will do to a look. Working together, we can create a perfect look that will hold up to tears of joy and the odd shower of rain and still leave you looking flawless and radiant.

3. How Many People?

To give every bridal party member the time and attention they deserve, your hair and makeup artist will need to know how many bridesmaids and others would like their hair done. We can make sure we have the right number of team members there for your big day. Mother of the bride, bridesmaids, flower girls, we just need to know who will be there in the morning! The last thing we want is to rush and spoil a look, so just let us know, and if you need to add someone, just pop us a quick message! Also, let us know when you need to be ready, so we can plan the morning and arrive in plenty of time!

4. Who is Paying

Have a chat with your party about who is paying before you book. Are you covering the cost for everyone, or, as is popular at the moment, are the bridesmaids paying for themselves? Your stylist can break the bill down in any way you need; just let us know.

5. Hair and Makeup Trials

Finally, my top tip is to find the time for a hair and makeup trial. I know it is busy in the run-up, but this one can be done a few weeks before, and it will make all the difference to the finished look on the day. You will be glad you made the time!
