Hair Extensions

Clip-ins are a quick DIY hair extension system that leave no long-term bonding or damage. They are easy to attach and remove, and can be perfectly matched with your own hair – creating length and added volume.

bylauramayers seamless clip-in wefts lie flat on your scalp making them virtually undetectable. Breakthrough Silicone Band technology fuses and bonds every single strand of hair at the top of each weft, reducing shedding and tangling, so your beautiful extensions last longer.

They clip in with little snap clips with combs on that are invisible once you’ve got them in. With practice, they should take 5 minutes to put in and around 60 seconds to take out!

They clip under your own hair using small snap clips. The clips we use are high quality clips with a silicone insert so they will not slip or damage your hair and are extremely secure. Once fitted, you won’t be able to see them.

Everyone has their own opinion, but as a general rule we find if your hair is at least 6-7 inches long, clip-in extensions will be suitable.

bylauramayers extensions are made from the finest quality Virgin Remy human hair, so they last as long as you want them to. If you look after your hair it’s not uncommon for bylauramayers extensions to last up to a year. If not treated well they will need to be replaced every three to six months. The more you look after them the longer they will last. We do not advise sleeping or swimming whilst wearing bylauramayers extensions.

We use 100% Virgin Remy human hair in our extensions due to its versatility and quality. Unlike synthetic hair, human hair can be straightened with a flat iron, curled with heat, or chemically treated to perm or dye the hair. Thin and fine hair becomes fuller and thicker. Short hair transforms to long, luxurious hair. We guarantee that bylauramayers extensions are 100% Virgin Remy natural human hair and are ethically sourced.

Treat the hair as if it is your own. Use a flat iron/straightener or tongs, even when fitted, but as with your own hair, never use hot tools too often as you could dry the hair and it will not last as long. We do not recommend using hot tools that are higher than 170°C. We highly recommend using a heat protector product on your hair before using hot tools.

We completely understand that choosing the right colour from a computer screen isn’t easy. To ensure an exact colour, you can send us a sample of your own hair and we will try to match it, (please email for postal address). Hair extensions can be one shade lighter or darker than your hair and still blend in. It makes all the difference once they are clipped in. In general, most people’s hair is darker underneath than on top.

The hair can be coloured or toned if required. As a general rule, it’s easier to darken the hair than to lighten it. Blonde hair has been bleached more so more caution must be taken when carrying out a dying / toning process. This includes using toning shampoos (silver/purple shampoo/conditioner). We highly recommend having your hairdresser dye / tone the extensions as are more likely to get the result you want. Colouring or toning hair extensions always poses a high risk and we do not advise attempting to colour the silicone tops as this may damage the silicone. Always test a small sample first and wash the hair prior to dying. We do not recommend bleaching the hair. Please note that dying or toning the extensions is done so at your own risk and voids any chance of returning the product. This includes using purple / silver shampoos and conditioners.

You can wash them as you would your own hair – using shampoo and conditioner. However, we suggest using a shampoo that’s preferably sulphate free and designed for coloured hair. We recommend using bylauramayers shampoo and conditioner, which has been specially formulated for our extensions and can be purchased in our shop. You will find that you don’t need to wash your extensions too much, about once every three weeks. The extensions can be blow-dried, but it is not recommended to do it too often. It’s best to let your hair extensions dry naturally after washing.

All our hair extensions are made from ethically sourced 100% Virgin Remy hair. This is human hair of the highest possible quality.

Remy hair

Remy or Remi is a term we use for undamaged, healthy hair, which is shinier and softer, and has a longer lifespan than non-Remy hair. Non-Remy hair is chemically processed (for texture or colour) before the hair was collected.

Remy hair strands can be processed through colouring or other treatments, although the hair could get damaged or parts even destroyed. Remy hair is not as good as virgin hair, which is why Remy human hair wigs are cheaper than Virgin Remy hair.

Virgin Remy hair

The best type of Remy hair is virgin, or ‘cuticle hair’. When hair is harvested from a donor, the cuticles remain intact to protect the hair from damage.

Virgin hair has never been processed or treated with any kind of chemicals. The hair is in its natural state with its cuticles running in the same direction and is fully intact. You can bleach, dye and process Virgin hair just as you would do your own hair.

The texture of Virgin hair is generally straight, wavy or curly. However, any hair that has been chemically processed for texture, for example yaki, body wave or curls, is no longer virgin.

Our wigs and hair pieces come in a variety of hair types: human hair, fibre hair, flexi hair and synthetic hair. Each item in the shop has its own description and advice as to what you can do with it and how to care for it.

Wigs

We offer a wide range of wigs, hair pieces and toppers that are suitable for clients undergoing chemotherapy and for all stages of hair loss. From more affordable lightweight synthetic wigs, to the very best human hair hand-tied, lace-fronted wigs. We also offer headwear and turbans, wigs, caps and aftercare products.

VAT exemption is available to clients who wear wigs and hair pieces as a necessity. Customers who require wigs or hair pieces due to alopecia, hair loss as a result of chemotherapy treatment or any other medical condition that causes hair loss, and have it confirmed by a GP, are classed as necessity wearers.

If any of the above applies to you, you are entitled to receive your wig VAT-free at the time of purchase. Please note, VAT exemption applies to wigs and hair pieces only and does not apply to accessories like headscarves, turbans or aftercare products like shampoo.

If you are in any doubt as to whether you are eligible to receive goods or services zero-rated for VAT you should consult Notice 701/7 VAT reliefs for disabled people at www.hmrc.gov.uk or by contacting the VAT Disabled Relief Helpline on 0300 123 1073 before signing the declaration.
