Understanding Jon Renau’s Colour Codes

  • Blended colours are indicated with a ‘B’ in the colour code. Jon Renau blends their solid colours to achieve new colours that mimic natural tones.
  • Tipped colours are indicated with a ‘T’ in the colour code. Highlighting is demonstrated through the body of the wig, as well as the ends.
  • Syrup ‘FS’ and Highlighted colours ‘H’ were especially designed around current fashion forward styles, adding flare with multiple colours streaked into a base colour.
  • Layered colours are indicated with an ‘L’ in the colour code. Constructed with a lighter frosted shade starting from the crown and running down to about half way on the cap over the darker shade at the nape.
  • Shaded colours are indicated with an ‘S’ in the colour code. The roots are coloured a darker shade than the rest of the wig.  This has the most appealing effect of coloured hair with natural regrowth.
  • Renau Highlight A traditional highlight ‘H’ is 20%. Jon Renau offers ‘RH’ which is a 33% highlight.
  • Two Toned colours are indicated with a ‘TT’ in the colour code.  The nape of the wig will be the darker shade, while the crown and sides will be the lighter shade.
  • Fashion colours are indicated with an ‘F’ in the colour code.  Fashion colours will have something different about them, such as more noticeable highlights or a darker nape.
  • Flash Front colours are indicated with an ‘FF’ in the colour code.  Flash front means it will be lighter at the front.
  • Renau Naturals colours are indicated a ‘RN’ in the colour code. Normally human hair undergoes bleaching to remove most of it’s pigment, followed by colouring with fade proof permanent dye.  Renau Naturals colourization process gently lifts the original colour until the desired hue is achieved.  No dye is used in the process.

It is recommended to wash your Alternative Hair every 6-8 wears.
It isn’t recommended colouring or chemically altering Alternative Hair.
It is recommended to perform a check wash on any Human Hair system within 14 days of receipt.
CHECK WASH

Before washing your human hair wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles using your paddle brush

Wet hair completely using cool running water. Comb through hair with your fingers several times

If no signs of tangling/matting* occur, continue to cleanse and condition while checking for excessive tangling as you go

*Tangling/matting that occurs after months of wear is due to improper care.

CLEANSE & CONDITION

Before washing your human hair wig or hairpiece, gently remove any tangles using your paddle brush

Gently lather the hair with a small amount of Argon Smooth Luxury Shampoo (or similar), while making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction.  DO NOT rub hair as this may cause tangling.

Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear

Apply Argon Smooth Luxury Conditioner (or similar), avoiding the base of the wig or hairpiece (applying conditioner to the base/cap may weaken the knots)

Using your fingertips, work conditioner through mid-lengths and ends for 3-5 minutes

Rinse thoroughly in cool running water until the water runs clear

DRY & STYLE

Wrap wig or hairpiece in a towel and gently pat to remove excess water

Gently remove any tangles using your paddle brush

Allow cap to dry completely before applying to a canvas block head

Dampen hair again and apply a small amount of Blown Away Blow Dry Balm (or similar), distribute evenly throughout the hair, keeping away from base

Starting at nape, work in 2″ sections using a round bristle brush and blow dry each section completely

Use medium-high heat on full power to blow dry hair.  Use the ‘cool shot’ button to lock the style

Human Hair must be dried and styled after washing. Air-drying will leave the hair ‘un-polished’ and can trap water in the hair causing frizzing

TIPS

Blown Away Blow Dry Balm (or similar), is designed as a foundation product for all human hair blow outs. All other styling products can be layered over Blown Away

Boho Beach Mist (or similar) can be used on dry hair to add texture and revitalize natural curls

Use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat. Use no higher than 175c  to help maintain the integrity of the hair

CURL & FLAT IRON

Heat your curling or flat iron to 135-140c
Using your Wide Tooth Comb, gently comb hair free of tangles
Starting at the nape, take 1/2″ – 1.5″ sections of the hair (smaller sections=tighter curls, larger sections=looser curls).
Spray Heat Treatment Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fibre (1-2 pumps per section)

CURL

Gather hair into curling iron, smooth through to the ends. Roll iron up towards base of wig or hairpieces, staying 1-2
inches away
Hold for 10-15 seconds, then turn the top of the iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of hand
Holding curl in one hand, gather up towards base and secure curl with a small metal clip (like a pin curl)
Allow curl to cool completely (about 5 minutes), remove clip and let curl hang naturally

FLAT IRON

Starting at the nape, take 1/2″ – 1.5″ sections
Spray Heat Treatment Thermal Spray on the section to protect the fibre (1-2 pumps per section)
Slowly smooth flat iron down through ends. Keep hair smooth by following behind the flat iron with your Wide Tooth Comb
Allow hair to hang naturally and cool completely
